Description:
In part 2 of For Beauty & Glory, we’re breaking down what it really means to honor God with our bodies. From the Old Testament temple to New Testament believers, we’ll uncover why God cares about how we treat, present, and respect the bodies He gave us.
🔹 Key takeaway? Our bodies are not just for us-they are for His glory. What we eat, how we move, and the way we carry ourselves are all forms of worship.
🔥 Topics Covered:
✔️ God’s temple as a model for our bodies
✔️ Food & health- why gluttony is more than just overeating
✔️ Fitness & discipline- is working out just vanity?
✔️ Modesty & fashion- what does the Bible really say?

Summary
The second part of For Beauty & Glory is all about our bodies, inside and out. So many people, believers and non-believers, have heard this statement – “Our body is a temple.” Well, this means something very different for the believer in Jesus Christ than for a non-believer. God had a temple that had specifications. Its meaning has been lost on us, so that’s the first thing we get into as image bearers of God. We tackle our body
1. God’s Tabernacle and Temple
If you’ve read the Old Testament, there are super detailed descriptions that go into the Tabernacle. The kind of detail that makes people want to skip over them cause they don’t understand the value. Well, I heard a pastor preach for over 4 months on it (50 chapters), just for us to grasp God’s holiness. Then came the temple. Then came Jesus, our High Priest. And then Jesus made those who believe in Him priests and our bodies temples. Our bodies are THAT important!
2. Health/Fitness
America has the highest number of gym memberships in the world, with over 64 million people, yet 75% of our nation is overweight and 42% are obese. About 62% of Americans identify as Christians as well, so where does that leave us? It means the culture of overconsumption (the sin of gluttony) has stormed the church and caused there to be no visible difference between many believers and unbelievers.
We should intentionally fit in exercise and make conscious decisions about what we eat. “Our health is our wealth.” We are limiting our testimonies and shortening our ministries visibly by having failing health that could easily be prevented.
3. Body modifications
It’s a part of the culture. It’s also barely addressed in the Bible. One of those things that involves wisdom and the motives of one’s heart. We go a bit deeper on tattoos, piercings, and plastic surgery.
4. Modesty & Fashion
From the last episode, we should now know that God loves beauty (Aaron’s garments were made for glory and beauty), and we’re supposed to present ourselves with dignity, but people still get caught up and legalistic when it comes to our appearances.
Modesty is almost always female-focused, but being completely unbiased, I show how it matters for both sexes. Modesty is not really a clothing issue at all and is primarily a heart issue. It’s us, being honest about our own lust issues and not shirking the responsibility onto someone else.
Give it a try 💪🏽🤍
- Identify your weakness: Is it overeating? Drinking problem? Wearing attention-seeking clothing? Have an honest conversation with God about what you want to change and offer it up to Him, and ask for help.
- Get accountable! We’re the body of Christ. Confess your sin to another believer that you are close with and work on something together, or ask them to check in on you.
